The Air Force revamped the force structure plans it
announced last year and told Congress what the new bill would be to retain more
aircraft. When Congress passed the Fiscal 2013 defense budget, it included
additional funding for USAF—$504 million. Unfortunately, that is nearly $100
million less than the service needed. Now USAF has to find an additional $98.3
million to fully cover the costs of the restructuring. The service lays out the
numbers in this table, released to the public on March 28, 2013. (See the Daily
Plan Details Force Structure Changes from March 29.)
