October 28, 2005—The business of spacelift is a huge enterprise, with the future based on two main elements—the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle program and the new Operationally Responsive Spacelift program. The EELV program is based on the Delta IV and Atlas V rockets. The ORS program will develop launchers capable of rapid placement of smaller payloads. Total expenditure: $28 billion.
