November 16, 2005—Infrared early warning satellites will consume billions of investment dollars. Missile warning today is provided by Defense Support Program satellites, the last of which will go up next year. DSP will be succeeded by the Space-Based Infrared System High, which will cost $11 billion over the next two decades.
