SSgt. Christopher M. Stuebbe is one of the 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year for 2019, an award recognizing airmen for superior leadership, job performance, community involvement, and personal achievement over the preceding 12 months. The 12 Airmen of the Year will be formally recognized at AFA’s Air, Space & Cyber Conference Sept. 16-18 in National Harbor, Md.

SSgt. Stuebbe was a critical member of the crew that enabled Special Operation Task Forces to conduct raids against high-value targets during Operation Freedom's Sentinel. He flew 35 combat missions totaling 133 hours, and transferred 283,000 pounds of fuel that were vital to the mission. Additionally, he expedited emergency repairs on Air Force Special Operation Command equipment valued at $500,000, enabling joint force teams to be mission ready in under 12 hours. He also led a presidential-approved operation, refueling 28 aircraft, ensuring mission success. Finally, while deployed, he completed 18 credit hours toward his bachelor’s degree, helped wounded warriors as a volunteer in the hospital’s critical care section, and organized United Service Organizations events for 19,000 personnel.
