The Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center (AFIMSC) has reached full operational capability (FOC), according to a press release. The center, which opened at a temporary location at JB Andrews, Md., in August 2014, consolidates installation and mission support activities for more than 150 Air Force capabilities at 77 installations around the world. AFIMSC’s purview includes program management, base communications, logistics readiness, and civil engineering. “FOC is the culmination of a lot of hard work this past year by our warfighters at the headquarters, detachments, and primary subordinate units,” said AFIMSC commander Maj. Gen. Brad Spacy. “We’re delivering global installation and mission support capabilities to the Air Force, and we’re looking forward to taking it to the next level.” The center, which is now located at JBSA-Lackland, Texas, was conceived as part of the Defense Department’s 2014 Future Air Force Initiative focused on creating new efficiencies within the Air Force organizational structure.
