Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets can now join the Reserves after graduation, as opposed to only being able to enter the Active Duty, the Air Force announced March 16. College students who are scheduled to be commissioned in calendar year 2016 and second lieutenants not yet on Active Duty now can request to be in the Reserve under the Total Force Commissioning Program, according to a Reserve command release. To qualify this year, applicants must be projected to be Line of the Air Force officers, excepted as a Regular Air Force or nuclear and missile systems officer. For those scheduled to be commissioned in Fiscal 2018, the Reserve can select up to 100 cadets to be rated or non-rated LAF officers in Reserve units. “The Air Force Reserve is interested in men and women who want to serve their country and make a difference,” AFRC Commander Lt. Gen. JJ Jackson said in the release. “As the global climate changes so do the demands of the Reserve, which is why we are opening our doors to motivated ROTC cadets.”
