Hanscom AFB, Mass., is working toward a net-centric command and control air operations suite to replace the Theater Battle Management Core System, and plans to release a request for proposal for the final piece of the program later this month, according to a base release. The new program, Command and Control Air Operations Suite-C2 Information Services, or C2AOS-C2IS, “is the heart and soul of the [air operations center], allowing pilots and warfighters to complete air battle plans,” and it will “provide faster, better quality, and more intuitive products for our end user,” said Capt. Kyle Rowland, the deputy program manager. The RFP will be for the air execution information system, or AXIS, which “pulls all the previous pieces together and ties the bow for the program,” Rowland said. The program will improve flexibility of command and control applications and information systems for the warfighter, according to the Air Force.
