An airman died during a physical fitness test last October at Scott AFB, Ill., because of a pre-existing condition, according to an Air Force report. Air Mobility Command on Monday released a report that said TSgt. Nicholas T. Kruse-Wright, who was assigned to the 375th Force Support Squadron at Scott AFB, died during a 1.5-mile run as part of his physical fitness test on Oct. 26, 2015. He collapsed on his final lap, and died three days later at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, Ill. Investigators found the cause was complications due to sickle cell trait, the report states.
