The Active Duty airmen augmenting Air Force Reserve Command's 482nd Fighter Wing at Homestead ARB, Fla., were elevated to squadron status, activating as the 362nd Fighter Squadron at the end of October. "Activating the 367th FS underneath the 482nd FW demonstrates the Air Force's strategic vision for Homestead. It is an honor and privilege to work hand-in-hand with our Total Force teammates," 367th FS Commander Lt. Col. Henry Jeffress said in a release. The approximately 170 pilots and maintainers augment Homestead's 93rd FS under an Active Association structure. The unit was previously designated Det. 93, and reports to the 495th Fighter Group at Shaw AFB, S.C., according to the release. The host 482nd FW comprises some 2,500 Reservists, some 240 of which are full-time, according to the unit. The squadron's heritage unit—the 367th FS "Vultures"—flew P-47s in the European Theater of Operations during WWII, inactivating in 1945. The unit reformed as a squadron Oct. 23.
