The nominee to be the next undersecretary of the Air Force said she wants the job because she feels like she can make a difference. “My focus for my entire career has been all about combat power,” Lisa Disbrow, the current assistant secretary of the Air Force for financial management and comptroller, told the Senate Armed Services Committee on Dec. 15. “I see shortfall areas, I see readiness problems, I see processes that need reform, and I think I can make a difference.” Disbrow said she believes the top problems in the Air Force are readiness and meeting demands while modernizing. She also said she is “very concerned” about adversaries growing their capabilities and the rapid pace at which they’re modernizing their forces. “The Air Force is the smallest it’s been since its inception and with demand only increasing, those two things do not match. We’ve got a threat that we need to … keep pace with, and go beyond,” she said. (Disbrow prepared testimony.)
