The Air Force’s main base for survival, evasion, resistance, and escape training has added another course. The 66th Training Squadron’s Det. 2 at NAS Pensacola, Fla., has relocated to Fairchild AFB, Wash., according to an Air Force Education and Training Command release. The detachment is responsible for the three-day Parachute Water Survival Course, which is responsible for training aircrew that fly in aircraft with the capability for parachute egress. The course teaches disentanglement, drop and drag, and descent into water, according to AETC officials. The move is expected to save the Air Force $4.6 million per year in temporary duty assignment funds and operating expenses. The first course began Aug. 10.
