The Air Force will integrate its newly redesigned Transition Assistance Program (TAP) into a new Defense Department initiative aimed at improving the transition process from military to civilian life. Dubbed the military lifecycle model, the new program is slated to launch Oct. 1, according to a Sept. 30 release. Air Force Personnel Center officials say the new program will allow airmen to focus on specific tasks at key points in their careers. "Integrating TAP objectives into the MLC takes us a step closer to the goal of embedding military to civilian transition planning across the military lifecycle, rather than waiting until airmen get ready to retire," said Wendy Link, AFPC airman and family sustainment branch community readiness analyst. “Providing airmen with this type of training throughout their career ensures they have the time and resources to prepare for a smooth transition from the military.”
