The Air Force Office of Special Investigations career field is this year’s team of the year. “It is an honor to recognize the men and women of AFOSI for their service and accomplishments,” said Air Force Association President Craig McKinley. “Their continued sacrifice and vigilance is pivotal to what makes our United States Air Force the best in the world. Furthermore, their demonstration of such high integrity and excellence makes them an inspiration for generations to come.” AFOSI has served as the Air Force’s major investigative service since 1948. The 2,738 Active Duty, Reserve, and Civilian personnel are charged with identifying, exploiting, and neutralizing criminal, terrorist, and intelligence threats to the Air Force, Defense Department, and US government, states a March 25 AFA release. “On behalf of AFA, it’s a privilege to congratulate the AFOSI career field for this achievement,” said AFA Chairman of the Board George Muellner. “They have been engaged and irreplaceable to operations for more than half a century. We commend them for their great work ethics and unyielding commitment.”
