Air Mobility Command held a roundtable discussion at Scott AFB, Ill., with 15 chief learning officers to discuss ways to promote learning through innovative ideas and plans. With the war in Afghanistan winding down, the command is moving away from the old learning model, which was train, deploy, recover, back to an “in-garrison force,” according to a Jan. 29 base release. The challenge now is to keep airmen involved and motivated through innovative learning. One way AMC could do that is through its online tool, Defense Connect Online, which on one occasion, linked AMC Commander Gen. Paul Selva to 300 junior officers for a video meeting. “The perceived feeling of anonymity on DCO, although names were visible, encouraged participants to ask the commander more questions than they might in a traditional setting,” states the release.
