The Air Force will convene a reduction in force board on June 16 to evaluate eligible officers for retention, announced officials from the Air Force Personnel Center. Those who are eligible for the RIF board may apply for voluntary separation pay between Feb. 6 and May 1, states the Jan. 28 release. If approved they will receive 1.25 times the standard full separation pay, said Lt. Col. Rick Garcia, Air Force Personnel Center’s retirements and separations branch chief. Officers who meet the requirements of the RIF board, but are not selected for retention, must separate from the Air Force by Jan. 31, 2015, it states. The RIF board is just one of several Fiscal 2014 force management programs USAF is implementing as an attempt to draw down the force structure, said Garcia.
