The 37th Training Wing opened a new $22 million Recruit/Family In-Processing and Information Center for Basic Military Training at JBSA-Lackland, Texas, on July 30. The 70,306-square foot center is expected to consolidate personnel processing activities into one building and handle human resources-related business, according to a July 31 release. "The airmen that join the world's greatest Air Force deserve this world-class facility," said 37th TRW Commander Col. Trent Edwards. "That's what this is and what” the late CMSAF Gary Pfingston, after whom the building is named, “represented," added Edwards. “It is an honor to name it after Chief Pfingston because he really represented airmanship,” said Edwards. “His ties to Lackland as a military training instructor, commandant of the MTI School, and then … the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, that's history—that's legacy.” Construction began in September 2012 and finished in March of this year. Pfingston, who died of cancer in 2007, was the 10th Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force.
