Airmen at Dover AFB, Del., welcomed the 18th and final upgraded C-5M Super Galaxy home on April 2, reported Delaware’s News Journal. This aircraft, serial No. 87-0040, completes the base's C-5 fleet makeover, states the article. “We are very excited to receive our final C-5M Super Galaxy,” said Col. Rick Moore, commander of the 436th Airlift Wing. “Completing our fleet marks a significant milestone for team Dover and for the C-5M program.” Lt. Gen. Brooks Bash, Air Mobility Command's vice commander, was expected to present the aircraft key to SrA. Bradley Harris, crew chief of the 436th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. The upgraded C-5s have “all-digital flight controls, ... navigation systems, and more efficient and powerful engines,” states C-5 manufacturer Lockheed Martin.
