Goodfellow Opens New Facilities: Officials opened five new and renovated facilities at Goodfellow AFB, Tex., including a dining facility, dormitory, learning center, student center, and marines' training building, according to a base release. Base personnel held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Jan. 17 to mark the opening of these buildings, states a Goodfellow release. The $5.2 million renovation to one of the base's dining halls, the Cressman Dining Facility, replaced its decrepit floor structure, while the new $14 million Pipeline Student Dormitory will allow the 315th Training Squadron more student capacity by housing up to 189 female trainees, according to the Jan. 22 release. The new $12 million Consolidated Learning Center brings the former Airman Leadership School, base library, career development services, language testing, and first-term airman support under the same roof. The new $650,000 Student Center-Crossroads will provide students a place to relax, socialize, and communicate outside of class. And, the Marine Training Leaders Building replaces the former facility that marines used, according to the release. (Goodfellow report by A1C Erica Rodriguez)
