The Senate voted
64-36 on Dec. 18, 2013, in favor of two-year budget deal that offers some
relief from sequestration, provides the Defense Department with more stability so
they can more efficiently plan for the future, and prevents another government
shutdown from taking place. Here, Sen. Patty Murray [D-Wash.], one of the lead architects of the deal, urges her colleagues prior to the vote to support the bill.
