Numerous Active Duty combat units in the United States,
Europe, and the Pacific on April 9, 2013, began standing down as the Air Force absorbs the
funding cuts imposed by budget sequestration, announced Air Combat Command.
Taking this step, said ACC officials, will ensure that other units supporting
worldwide operations can maintain sufficient readiness through the remainder of
the fiscal year, which ends on Sept 30, 2013. The move affects about one-third
of Active Duty combat aircraft, said ACC. Here, A-10 ground-attack aircraft lined up during an exercise at Namest AB, Czech Republic, Sept. 10, 2012.
