It's possible that the Air Force's Total Force Task Force—or an entity like it—could find a permanent home on the Air Staff, Lt. Gen. Mike Moeller, deputy chief of staff for strategic plans and programs, told the Daily Report. "I'm not sure how it's going to look. One of the recommendations may be to stand up a task force-like entity in the Air Staff to serve just purely as an integration cell," said Moeller in a late March interview. Air Force Secretary Michael Donley and Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh issued a memorandum in late January establishing the task force, dubbed TF2, which is responsible for determining the proper mix of personnel and capabilities across the Active Duty, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve to meet current and future requirements within available resources. "You have the Chief of the Air Force Reserve, you have the Air National Guard, we have the different Air Staff directors, and Secretariat, but I think we would all agree that there has to be some plug-and-play for the external entities like the [adjutants general] and [Council of Governors]," said Moeller. Right now the task force really is the only such option, he said. "We've literally gone all in for this. The Secretary and Chief want this to be really and truly an open effort," said Moeller. "That, fundamentally, for me, is different from what we have done in the past."
