Defining the Air Force's Cyber Role: Senior Air Force leaders will meet at JB Andrews, Md., in mid November to try once and for all to define the service's role in cyberspace, reported AOL Defense. This summit is meant to address lingering questions, including what is the underlying military mission in cyberspace, what distinguishes the Air Force from the other services in this realm, and how should the Air Force train and equip airmen to operate in cyberspace, according to the Oct. 16 report. Lt. Gen. Michael Basla, the service's chief for information dominance, announced the forthcoming high-level powwow during an Oct. 11 speech at an industry conference in Vienna, Va. "The summit will bring all the four stars and key Air Staff leaders in the Air Force together to ensure a common understanding of Air Force cyber capabilities, and then decide on its future path for the Air Force," he said.
