Security Shift at Bagram: The 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, took over responsibility for the base's security from the Army, standing up the 455th Expeditionary Security Forces Group for the task. "I am honored to be your first commander," said Col. Brian Greenroad, during the Nov. 14 assumption-of-command ceremony, over which 455th EAW commander Brig. Gen. Joseph Guastella presided. The 455th ESFG, comprising some 1,300 joint-force and coalition personnel, is now in charge of protecting the nearly 35,000 US and coalition personnel and their equipment at Bagram as well as the more than 300-square-mile security zone surrounding the base, according to the unit's Nov. 16 release. "It is still the security forces mission, but our area of responsibility has increased," explained A1C Marlon Harris, an entry gate controller with the group. (Bagram report by SrA. Chris Willis)
