Northrop Grumman delivered the first F-35 center fuselage produced on its new integrated assembly line to F-35 prime contractor Lockheed Martin in mid March 2012, announced Northrop Grumman officials, April 2, 2012. The IAL, located at Northrop Grumman's facility in Palmdale, Calif., uses robotics automation to increase affordability, quality, and efficiency, they said. Here, Palmdale employees prepare the historic first fuselage off of the line for shipment. Prior to the start of the IAL, Northrop Grumman had already supplied 69 F-35 center fuselages.
