The Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards AFB, Calif., celebrated its 60th anniversary, Oct. 14, 2011. As part of the celebration that day, retired Brig Gen. Chuck Yeager, flying in an F-16D with AFFTC Commander Brig. Gen. Robert Nolan, broke the sound barrier to commemorate Yeager's first supersonic flight in 1947 from Edwards.
