Members of Holloman AFB, N.M., held an inactivation ceremony for the 8th Fighter Squadron, May 13, 2011. The "Black Sheep" are standing down after less than two years of operating F-22s due to the Air Force's F-22 consolidation plan, which calls for Holloman to lose its two squadrons' worth of F-22s and take on the F-16 training mission. The 8th FS' official inactivation takes effect on July 15, 2011. At left, a flight of five T-38 Talons fly overhead during the 8th FS inactivation ceremony. At right, the Black Sheep patch.
