Minot Airmen Continue to Deal with Flood Waters: Some 1,100 airmen assigned to Minot AFB, N.D., and their family members remained displaced from their homes in downtown Minot and the surrounding communities as a result of the Souris River rising to record flood levels. The river began flooding June 20. Although water levels slightly receded Monday for the second straight day, the city might be flooded well into next month, reported the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Minot airmen continue to help fight the floods and the base continues to offer emergency shelter to displaced airmen and their families. Due to the flooding, Minot officials announced Monday that they have temporarily halted most permanent change of station moves and temporary duty assignments to the base.
