Air Force officials have worked hard to transform the KC-135 tanker into an effective platform for long-haul aeromedical evacuation, service officials told the Daily Report in mid-January 2011. That transformation has not been easy, but with considerable investments of time and energy, along with innovation, KC-135s are today considered very capable in this role.
