Raytheon Nears Opening of GPS Center: Raytheon is slated to open the doors on its new Global Positioning System Collaboration Center next month in El Segundo, Calif. The company has designed the 17,900-square-foot facility to enable increased communication and cooperation with Air Force personnel from the Space and Missile Systems Center at nearby Los Angeles Air Force Base as the company matures the GPS Operational Control Segment (OCX), USAF's next-generation GPS ground control system. The center, featuring an executive presentation room as well as operations and demonstration areas, will allow Air Force officials to interact with OCX in an operational-like environment, according to a company release. "[We] will be able to collaborate with the Air Force and program partners via virtual demonstrations from Raytheon's other program locations," said Robert Canty, Raytheon's OCX program manager.
