Donation Propels Air Force Museum Expansion: The National Museum of the US Air Force has received a $5 million donation from Boeing to help fund the construction of a new 200,000 square foot addition. This new facility, slated to open in 2014, will house the museum's collection of Presidential transports, aerial refueling tankers, cargo platforms as well as its space gallery. "This extraordinary act of generosity is a huge step in the effort to fund construction of the new building, and will ultimately enable the museum to do an even more phenomenal job of educating visitors about the United States Air Force" stated the museum foundation's president, retired Lt. Gen. Richard Reynolds. The museum foundation now has more than $20 million available for the project. The Army Corps of Engineers will begin planning and soil testing this spring. Construction will commence in 2013. (Dayton report by George Mongon)
