Celebrating Airmen Great and Small: On display now in the Pentagon is "Pioneers in Blue," a collection of 38 photographic portraits of airmen from different career fields and backgrounds who have contributed to the Air Force's greatness over the years. The display features airmen such as Rep. Sam Johnson (R-Tex.), a seven-year POW during the Vietnam War, Dick Cole, one of the Doolittle Raid pilots, and Adan Caraballo, who rode 3,165 miles across the United States in a bicycle to support an environmental cause. Accompanying each photograph is an account illuminating both the personal contribution of the airman, as well as the role, and significance of the Air Force in the airman's life. The collection will be on display in the Pentagon for about a year. A second mini-set of the top 10 portraits went on display Monday for several months in the Library of Congress. (SAF/PA release.)
