The first of the Air Force's C-5M Super Galaxy transports arrived at Stewart Air National Guard Base in upstate New York for overhaul of its interior, Oct. 7, 2010. There, maintainers with the New York Air Guard's 105th Airlift Wing will install new soundproofing, upholstery, paint, and a lavatory upgrade, replacing tattered turquoise batting and flesh-toned paint with a fresher, more livable ambience. While this C-5M will pioneer the C-5's "new look" interior, the entire C-5 fleet will eventually receive these upgrades as airframes come in for annual inspection.
