United Through Reading offers military personnel the chance to read to their small children while they are away on a deployment, officials involved with the program announced, Nov. 15, 2010. Personnel can go to more than 60 USO locations or 200 Defense Department sites to record themselves reading a book to their children. They receive a DVD that is sent with a copy of the book to their child. Here, TSgt. David Aceveda, an airman with the 744th Communications Squadron at JB Andrews, Md., reads a children's book in front of a video camera at the USO Community Center at Dover AFB, Del., Sept. 24, 2010. He made the recordings for his two youngest children prior to his deployment in October 2010.
