First Production C-5M Arrives at Dover: Gen. Raymond Johns, Air Mobility Command boss, last week flew the first production C-5M Super Galaxy airlifter from Stewart Air National Guard Base in upstate New York to its new home at Dover AFB, Del. At Stewart, members of the New York Air National Guard's 105th Airlift Wing spent 26 days reconditioning the aircraft and refurbishing its interior. This was the final stage of the aircraft's modernization. "While the C-5 has been supporting the warfighter for decades, you've made it even more capable," Johns told the Stewart airmen before departing for Dover, which is home to the three other C-5Ms already in the fleet. The Air Force intends to upgrade 52 Galaxies to the Super Galaxy configuration by the end of 2016. These upgraded aircraft will be more reliable, more powerful, and more fuel-efficient.
