The Air Force will reduce its deployed force of 450 Minuteman III ICBMs by at least 30 missiles and convert at least 34 of its 94 nuclear-capable B-2A and B-52H bombers to conventional-only roles under the Obama Administration's new baseline nuclear force structure announced May 13, 2010. Further, the Navy will maintain its fleet of 14 strategic nuclear submarines, but will reduce the number of launch tubes on each sub from 24 to 20 and will deploy no more than 240 nuclear ballistic missiles at any one time. Here, a B-52H takes off during a nuclear exercise at Minot AFB, N.D., Nov. 5, 2009.
