The schedule for selecting the winner of the Air Force's KC-X tanker contest has not been delayed, and the Pentagon still expects to announce its decision in fall 2010, Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell said May 4, 2010. Morrell was responding to press reports that started surfacing the previous day claiming that the KC-X source selection had slipped by several months perhaps until after the Congressional midterm election in November 2010. Here a KC-135 tanker, the type that KC-X will replace, sits on the ramp at Manas AB, Kyrgyzstan, as a C-17 transport passes by overhead.
