Boeing unveiled the "NewGen Tanker" design that it will offer the Air Force in the KC-X tanker competition, March 4, 2010. The multi-mission aircraft is based on the company's 767 commercial airliner, but updated with a digital flight deck and a new-generation fly-by-wire boom. The company characterized this tanker model as "the cost-effective solution" for the Air Force that is "built on a proven tanker platform with the best new technology available."
