The Air Force has chosen Whiteman AFB, Mo., and Ellsworth AFB, S.D., to host ground control stations for MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper remotely piloted aircraft, respectively, service officials announced, June 21, 2010. The new mission will add 280 personnel, both military and civilian, to each base. Operations at Whiteman are expected to commence by February 2011 and at Ellsworth by May 2012.
