The Air Force announced June 9, 2010, that it is institutionalizing the remotely piloted aircraft pilot career field by establishing undergraduate RPA training, or URT. This is one of several initiatives to beef up the service's pool of RPA pilots in the face of increased warfighter demand for RPA support. The first URT class is expected to begin in October 2010.
