The warehouse for the 86th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Ramstein AB, Germany, has adopted robotic vehicles to help with the movement of supplies, Ramstein officials announced June 30, 2010. The unit is US Air Force in Europe's first to take this step. Airmen now work beside five laser automated guided vehicles in the warehouse. These vehicles patrol up and down the warehouse, stop at designated points, pick up parcels, move them to designated locations, drop them off, and then move on. In the process, they have freed up the airmen to perform other warehouse tasks, thereby boosting warehouse efficiency. Here, several of the vehicles are shown in the warehouse, June 17, 2010.
