The 100th Air Refueling Wing at RAF Mildenhall, Britain, has acquired mobile maintenance platforms to make the job of performing isochronal inspections on the unit's KC-135 tankers go more quickly, thereby improving the tankers' availability, wing officials announced Dec. 23, 2009. The wing is the Air Force's first KC-135 outfit to use these platforms, which replaced more cumbersome, fixed stands. With the new equipment, Mildenhall maintainers can complete the inspections in seven days as opposed to 10. Here SSgt. Christopher Klaus, airman with Mildenhall's 100th Maintenance Squadron, stands in one of the mobile platforms as he works underneath a KC-135 wing, Dec. 9, 2009.
