A malfunctioning thruster on AEHF-1, the Air Force's first Advanced Extremely High Frequency military communications satellite, will delay the spacecraft from reaching its intended operational orbit by many months until June or July 2011, a USAF space official said, Aug. 30, 2010. After reaching that orbital position, another three to four months will be required for checkout activities before the satellite is cleared to commence operations, according to this official.
