Brig. Gen. Steven Kwast, commander of the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, said the MC-12W Liberty Project Aircraft, which have operated in Afghanistan since December 2009, "brings something we have not had before in the way it latches so many capabilities together." The intelligence-surveillance-reconnaissance turboprop aircraft provides real-time full-motion video and signals intelligence directly to ground forces. Kwast told reporters during an April 20 videoconference, "I cannot tell you how happy the ground force commanders are to have that capability here." At Bagram, an MC-12 lands after a surveillance mission April 6, 2010.
