The Air Force awarded Distinguished Flying Crosses to an F-15E crew for their actions Oct. 2, 2009, while deployed to Afghanistan from Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C. Capt. Aaron Dove, weapon systems officer, and Capt. Mike Polidor, established tactical air control, orchestrating close air support over a seven-hour period for Combat Observation Post Keating, after the post of some 80 coalition soldiers was attacked and surrounded by about 280 Taliban insurgents.
