The Air Force plans to buy a total of 3,000 Raytheon-built miniature air launched decoys and derivative radar jammers, service acquisition officials told the Daily Report, April 14, 2010. USAF is nearing the in-service date for the ADM-160B MALD, a decoy launched from F-16s and B-52s to confuse enemy air defenses. The ADM-160C MALD-J, the jammer variant, is expected to enter the inventory around September 2012. Here, three red-colored MALDs are visible on an F-16 test aircraft.
