Lt. Gen. Frank Klotz, the first commander of the new Air Force Global Strike Command, says the command will be successful when all of its airmen realize the importance of their tasks toward accomplishing the nuclear mission. The command will begin absorbing its operational elements in December 2009 when it picks up the 20th Air Force ICBM wings and follows that with the addition of 8th Air Force B-52H and B-2 bomber wings in February 2010. Here, A1C Patrick Holter (left) and A1C Patrick Dixon start the high-five salute as they prepare to launch the first B-2 Spirit of the day Sept. 8, 2009, on the Whiteman AFB, Mo., flightline. The Airmen are crew chiefs with the 509th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.
