Members of the North Dakota Air National Guard's 119th Wing have just returned from a Southwest Asia tour flying C-21 VIP transports, but state officials talked with top Air Force leaders Sept. 17, 2009, to press the service to assign eight C-27J Joint Cargo Aircraft vice the four Spartans the unit is slated to receive. The state delegation also asked USAF to add the MQ-9 Reaper Remotely Piloted Vehicle to the unit's stable; it now flies the MQ-1 Predator RPV. Here, Capt. Christopher Domitrovich and 1st Lt. Treff Wagner, both of the wing's 177th Airlift Squadron, pilot a C-21 aircraft as they maneuver down the taxi-way prior to launch at Hector International Airport, Fargo, N.D. May 20, 2009. This is the first time that the North Dakota Air Guard C-21s have deployed to Southwest Asia

Memorial Day is a time to remember all those who died fighting for their country, just like A1C William Pitsenbarger, an Air Force pararescueman who took part in more than 250 rescue missions before he was killed at the age of 21. His selflessness and valor in the Vietnam War earned him an Air Force Cross and, eventually, a Medal of Honor.
