Northrop Grumman used a Scaled Composites Proteus aircraft to test the new Multi-Platform Radar Technology Insertion Program radar for the RQ-4 Global Hawk Block 40 unmanned aerial vehicle. Here, the Proteus flies over Southern California. An Electronic Systems Center organization, the 851st Electronic Systems Group, has recently reached a key flight milestone for MP-RTIP by completing Radar System Level Performance Verification on the Synthetic Aperture Radar and Ground-Moving Target Indicator modes. Program officials aim to turn the sensor over for installation on the RQ-4 Air Force-18, the service's Block 40 test bed.
