The Air Force is asking for nearly $9 billion in Fiscal 2010 for its portfolio of space programs. The request is “a good step towards recognizing that space is a contested environment” and that the service stands behind its commitment to deliver space capabilities in that environment, Gary Payton, USAF’s space czar, told reporters in the Pentagon, May 11, 2009.
