Retired Col. Harold E. Fischer, a double ace of the Korean War, died April 30, 2009, at the age of 83. Fischer scored 10 aerial victory credits flying the F-86, the last on March 21, 1953, before being shot down less than a month later on April 7. He was among USAF airmen held by the Chinese and not released until two years after the armistice, in June 1955.
